Garrigan, Ragg Lead Saints to MAAC Split

Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena water polo team split their opening day of conference action this afternoon, defeating Wagner 14-12 in overtime and falling 15-4 to host Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Saints improve to 8-13 overall and now stand 1-1 in the MAAC.

In the first game of the morning, the Saints fell behind early in losing to the Red Foxes. Lauren Garrigan netted a pair of goals and added two steals. Caitlin Smith and Devan Ragg added the other Siena tallies, while Lisa Reilly posted nine saves in goal.

The Green and Gold garnered the split however coming back in the second game in defeating the Seahawks. Siena relinquished a two goal lead at the half, but received a pair of scores from Garrigan and the game winner from Ragg in overtime to pull out the victory.

Garrigan tied her career-high with five goals and added four assists for a game-high nine points to go along with five steals. Ragg matched her efforts with a career-high five goals of her own along with three assists and three steals.

Jackie Crosby notched a pair of tallies and Gina Guevara, Camille Norman and Lauren Biehle each added one representing Siena's other goal scorers.
 

 

The Saints conclude the opening weekend of MAAC play tomorrow down the thruway in New Rochelle, N.Y. against St. Francis (N.Y.) and host Iona. The first game against St. Francis is set to get underway at 10:30 a.m.
