Junior Sarah Mayer (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) was named MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year Monday afternoon. Mayer posted a 21-6 overall record at top singles and a perfect 7-0 mark in MAAC play. It is the second time in three years Mayer has won the honor.

Mayer was named MAAC Player of the Week four times this season. She also was named to the MAAC First Team at #1 singles.

As a freshman in 2006, Mayer was named MAAC Player of the Year after leading the Saints to their first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

This year, Mayer became Siena's all-time leader in career singles victories, besting her sister Nikki's total. The Saints finished the season with a 5-15 overall record and a 3-5 MAAC mark. Mayer returns along with four other starters next season.
