Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's soccer team dropped its final game of the season to Niagara 3-0 this afternoon in Loudonville. Purple Eagle's forward Brittany Bisnott connected on the game winning goal in the 11th minute to secure Niagara a spot in the 2007 MAAC Championships, while eliminating Siena (8-9-1, 5-4-0).

Niagara (10-6-2, 5-2-2) wasted little time before getting on the scoreboard. With 10:01 on the clock, Bisnott posted the first goal of the contest when she broke free of the Siena defense and placed a shot in the left corner. Fellow forward Stephanie Gartley was credited with the assist on the play.

The Purple Eagles added a second goal in the 25th minute when Ashley Mandrino sent a chip shot just over the charging Siena goalkeeper Patti Carroll. Carroll played all 90 minutes in net for the Saints.

The Saints bombarded Niagara with shots in the second half, but struggled to find the back of the net. Siena outshot the Purple Eagles 14-4 in the final 45 minutes, and 15-9 over the course of the game.

Siena's best scoring opportunity came midway through the second half when junior midfielder Chelsea Maguire tried to sneak a shot past the charging Niagara goalkeeper Ashleigh Bowers. Bowers made a sliding save to preserve the shutout. She finished with seven saves on the afternoon.

A late Purple Eagle's goal by Gartley in the 87th minute put the game out of reach. Gartley finished with a game-high three points.

Siena honored its senior class prior to the contest for all their accomplishments during their tenure with the program. All eight seniors started for the final contest of their collegiate careers.

With the loss, the Saints season comes to a halt. Siena finishes with an 8-9-1 overall record and 5-4-0 league mark.
