Loudonville, N.Y. - The Siena women's basketball and women's golf teams were honored recently with public recognition awards by the NCAA for their latest multi-year academic progress rate scores. In all 712 Division I athletic teams were recognized, including 401 women's teams.
Both teams qualified for the top 10 percent of women's basketball and women's golf teams in Division I in multi-year APR scores to garner this recognition. The Siena women's basketball team was one just of 35 Division I teams to earn recognition, while women's golf was one of 39.
Both teams posted APR scores ranging from 965 to a perfect 1,000 over the data collection period in order to earn these accolades.
The effort is part of a public recognition program the Division I Board of Directors approved in January 2006. Last year, a total of 839 teams were recognized, including the Siena women's basketball team which has now received the honor two years running.
