Abbondandolo Named to Division I PING All-Region Team
May 29, 2008
Loudonville, N.Y. - Siena men's golf junior co-captain Dan Abbondandolo was selected to the Division I PING All-Region Team for the Mid-Atlantic region as announced earlier today by the Golf Coaches Association of America in Norman, Okla. Abbondandolo is just one of fifteen regional men's golfers to be selected for this honor. As a member of the PING All-Region Team, Abbondandolo now becomes eligible for PING All-America honors. A native of Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y., Abbondandolo posted a tremendous campaign throughout the 2007-08 season. In the fall, he finished no worse than 14th individually and posted three top-10 finishes. Abbondandolo won his first two career individual crowns as well, winning back-to-back championships at the Cornell and Hofstra Invitationals. During the spring season Abbondandolo picked up right where he left off, capturing the individual title in the spring opener at the LIU Invitational. He went on to tally three more top-10 finishes in his last four tournaments, including a narrow miss at winning the individual championship at the MAAC Tournament. PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked in the top-75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region's top-15 are added to their All-Region team.
